The History of the PUPSrack

How a spontaneous idea turned into a pretty serious April Fool's joke
Monday, February, 10:00 a.m., it’s snowing outside.
Like every week, we’re sitting together for our regular meeting, reviewing the past few days and planning what lies ahead. It’s actually a perfectly normal meeting until Jan suddenly shouts out:
“We need an April Fool’s prank.”
The idea had already been floating around loosely. We’d played with it a bit, but never really fleshed it out. But now it’s suddenly the center of attention: the PUPSrack.
Resi glances at the calendar. “There’s still a little time… but yeah, let’s do it.”
And just like that, things start to pick up speed.
This is how ChatGPT envisions the PUPSrack.
When an idea becomes a project
It feels like just five minutes later, and the developers are already right in the thick of it.
And yet, there’s anything but downtime on the agenda: V3 has just been launched, and the Room Extender is still in the middle of the transition to mass production.
Despite that—or perhaps precisely because of it—the PUPSrack is turning into a true team project.
Everyone’s on board. Everyone has ideas. And above all: everyone’s really excited about it.
The roadmap is ready faster than expected.
Product description? Check.
Accessories? Of course.
From a pump holder to two seat cover options (plush vs. felt, including a completely reasonable pricing structure)—the project manager has it all mapped out in his head.
The first prototype had everything the PUPSrack needed.
From Prototype to The Grand Porcelain Throne
Lici brings the initial idea to life and immediately delivers a prototype that’s so good that after a few internal throne sessions, it’s clear: This thing has to be in front of the camera.
So off to the hardware store to find the perfect plunger, and then it’s time to get serious.
Lenz takes a seat on what is probably the most unusual product we’ve ever developed.
For the first time, we’re working with an external filmmaker (shoutout to Martin 🙌).
And even during the shoot, it becomes clear: This is going to be really good.

„Meeeeeeeeega!“
Late March. Monday again, our regular meeting again.
This time with a very special item on the agenda: the video premiere.
We’re sitting in front of our screens, all going wild.
“Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeega!”
Our favorite scene? No question about it: the bus pulls away, the black shower curtain flutters in the wind, and everything is just as absurdly perfect as we imagined it would be.
1. April – Showtime
There’s no turning back now.
Press releases, Instagram posts, YouTube videos, newsletters—everything is being prepared.
Sonja is quickly putting together a website teaser that will go live right on time on April 1.
And then it’s time to go.
Mission accomplished
The reactions? Exactly what we’d hoped for.
Lots of laughter, lots of likes, tons of comments, and even a feature in Lines Magazine by Christoph Berger-Schauer.
For us, the best feedback of all: a community and an entire industry that appreciates humor.

So what now?
There’s one thing above all that we’re taking away from this project:
That it’s precisely this mix of creativity, team spirit, and a dash of madness that defines PUSH.
And who knows… Maybe next year’s April Fool’s prank will have a bit too much truth to it again 😉
Until then: Have a wonderful April and lots of adventures in your camper.
